Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope this email finds you well! One of the most intense 60-day sessions concluded on March 10. As the minority party, we did our best to work across the aisle with our majority party colleagues on all issues by offering reasonable, common sense, and fiscally responsible solutions to the challenges brought before us. Our solutions were meant to make legislation better.

Local 16th District projects funded through the supplemental capital budget

I supported the $1.5 billion bipartisan supplemental capital budget, which will make significant investments in housing, infrastructure, mental and behavioral health facilities, broadband, and school seismic safety.

The 16th District received approximately $2 million in additional funding through this budget for local projects, including:

  • Starbuck Rodeo Arena remodel
  • Waitsburg Gun Club for accessibility and education support
  • Walla Walla YMCA Toddler Care Center
  • Upgrades to the DeSales High School through Walla Walla Catholic Schools

Election-year restrictions

I’m heading into an election-year cycle which means my legislative communications will be put under what’s known as an election-year freeze beginning Monday, May 16. This freeze on my communications will lift once the Secretary of State certifies the election at the end of November.

It’s important to note the freeze does not restrict me from responding to your emails, phone calls, and messages. I’m also not restricted from having in-person meetings with you, so please contact me as you normally would.

My email address is Skyler.Rude@leg.wa.gov, and my phone number is (509) 593-4559.

Thank you for the honor of allowing me to serve!

Sincerely,

Skyler Rude
